10 ft Christmas tree in the hall and another one in the foyer, Ded Moroz and Snegurochka, balloon -man, music and free refreshment, great raffle and huge presents for children! This year we had a different kind of event – a great performance around the Christmas tree from our drama class (5 very talented girls: Emma, Jarina, Alice, Anne-Maria and Sofia) based on the story “Alice in the Wonderland”. Incredibly interactive – children were not seating on their seats, but had been involved in the play – they were dancing, crafting, decorating the tree and playing games. Everyone has got a wonderful present with toys and chocolate from Ded Moroz at the end. Two dancing classed (ballet for children and teenagers) and two singing (children and adults) had performed as well as a part of the play-story.
We had our trip to St. -Andrew’s on a wonderful day of October holiday. St Andrews is a beautiful Scottish town located 2 hours drive from Aberdeen. We visited local Aquarium, Museum of University of St-Andrew’s, tried to catch up with all the sightseeing of the town and on the way back home we decided to stop in Craigtoun country park, where kids had plenty of fun on fairy tale castle, slides, swings and trampolines. We had a great day! Don`t miss our future events! It is a super way to spend some time together!
No comment is needed! Just look at these paintings and drawings. IT’S BEAUTIFUL! Our children are incredible talents!
In April 2014 Centre had organised all-day bus trip to Blair Drummond Safari park (Sterling). The bus had picked us up from the school door, driven to the park and also around wildlife reserve which is full of all sorts of exotic and exciting animals to see. We have seen elephants, giraffes and tigers and an amazing show with see lions. Only the weather was not great and it was raining most of the day. The brave ones took a boat trip to chimpanzee’s island under the rain. Nevertheless we had lots of fun and a fabulous picnic with barbecue (there were tables, benches and grill under the roof!).
At the end of October every year centre SLOVO celebrates Halloween: colourful costumes, face painting, games and spooky cakes for everyone. Come along next year to try some spider cupcakes with green slimy icing! Are you scared?
Not very often Aberdeen surprises us with a nice warm sunny spring day. That day we have been lucky! Juniors from our Saturday school and their parents meet for games and picnic at Storybook Glen. It was fun. Parents committee organized number of activities for kids, but they also could entertain themselves for hours running through the fields, swinging and riding on carousels, playing pirates on the wooden ship. Picnic was amazing! We will definitely do it again.
During Easter holidays 2013 center SLOVO organized a trip to National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and Edinburgh Zoo. What a great day out! On the bus we have been singing and reading Russian books. At the museum children played with robots; have been told about crabs, snakes, lizards and had a chance to touch and to hold them; looked under the microscope, tried out a racing car and much more! At the zoo we have seen bears, leopards, monkeys and many-many more. Most of our attention was directed to penguins and on our return we had a competition of the best photo with/of the penguins. Our winner Polina Sevastyanova took home a price!
2011 First day of a new school year at SLOVO starts with an assembly in the school hall, where first bell ring sounds and all news are shared. Children get allocated to the classes and groups and after they had gone to their classrooms, parents are offered tea and coffee and invited for informal chat.
International Women Day is filled with flowers and best wishes for mums and teachers. Juniors learn poems, preform a little play or sing for their mothers and make beautiful greeting cards.
